Welcome to my sanity,

or at least some of the links that help me maintain my sanity. When times are rough, I like to find something pretty to look at, some inspirational quote that will help me regain some perspective or something to make me laugh. .

Pretty

The Cloud Appreciation Society
Check out the Cloud Photo Gallery, which was really very neat and filled to the brim with interesting clouds. You can even check out the cloud look alike area (you’ll find the link at the top of the page on the title bar). There you will see some really fantastic clouds and spend some time guessing what they look like.

You can also check out the cloud of the month. You’ll find that section directly under the Site Contents title on the side of the page. You can learn all about the featured type of cloud and even check out the past clouds of the month.

Digital Picture of the Day

The daily photo will be right there on the page when you load the site. To see the archives, scroll down the page to the red buttons and you will see one marked DPOTD Archive. You can see the photos submitted from 1998 to 2006. Do you think you take great digital photos? If so, you could always enter the photo contest. To find the rules, click the red button that reads How to Enter and to see the prizes, hit the red button that reads The Prizes. Also, don’t forget to check out The Rules. If you are like me, you'll love the photo of the day sites. Check out the links in the blue section to the other Photo of the Day sites if you like. In the blue section, you will also find the archive for the current month.

Shorpy

Shorpy is "The 100 Year Photo Blog" and it gets its name from a boy who lived around the era of when these photos were taken. This site is very easy to navigate, since it is in a blog style. Just scroll down the page, look at the pictures and if you like one, just click the View Full Image button to see it in a larger size. You can get more information (if there is any) about a certain picture this way too. If you don’t see any you want to enlarge, scroll to the bottom of the page and click Next. Although you do have the option of scrolling to the bottom and clicking the Last link, you can also start at the very beginning of the blog. There are 82 pages in all. It is amazing to see not only the amazing buildings that are showcased through the photography, but to see the people as well. There are baseball players, working children, women in many different roles of life, from work to play and so much more.

Astronomy Picture of the Day

Astronomy Picture of the Day is where you not only get a different incredible picture everyday, but the pictures are even explained by a professional astronomer. That way, you know exactly what you are looking at. Some of the images also change if you scroll over them, showing a different kind of light or angle.  To get to the archives, you can either click on the Discover the Galaxy link at the top of the page or the Archive link at the bottom of the page.
